The opening verses of Amos are quite striking as his prophetic message, to Israel, begins with the surrounding nations and Judah (Israel’s sibling). It’s a message that is striking and purposeful. It’s a message, coupled with the judgment upon Judah, that reminds all the people of this earth that what they do, how they act, how they treat others, and how they worship God MEANS something.
